Product description
EM 190 is a heavy-coated basic electrode for welding low-alloy high-strength steels, particularly fine-grained structural steels, providing reliable, crack-resistant and tough welded joints on steels with yield strength up to 890 MPa. Due to its very low hydrogen weld metal, high toughness down to -40°C and excellent crack resistance even under difficult operating conditions such as dynamic loads, low temperatures and highly restrained joints, it is suitable for steel constructions, pressure vessels, tanks, boilers, shipbuilding, submarines and other special fabrications where high mechanical properties and military specifications are required. The weld metal is X-ray quality, tough and resistant to cracking, while the stable and concentrated arc provides good weld pool control, positional welding performance and gap-bridging characteristics, even at lower welding currents. EM 190 can also be safely used for root pass applications in these constructions.* For S960QL applications, matching of yield strength shall be verified by WPS/PQR
